The earliest life forms on Earth had to cope with inhospitable living conditions, flourishing
against all odds millions of years ago. These organisms are the so-called "Extremophiles", which
have inhabited the Earth for millions of years, and continue to do so today, sometimes more closely
to us than we can imagine.
Thus, their study and understanding can shed much light on fundamental questions about
the beginnings of life in our world and bring us great benefits of an economic, scientific and social
nature, among others. The aim of this work is to use the extremophilic organisms as an educational
resource, in order to combine different apparently distant contents in the Biology and Geology
curriculum so that they can present a pedagogical tool that works as a bridge between both
disciplines.
