dc.description.abstract | The increase in survival in paediatric cancer is leading to the appearance of important neurocognitive sequelae in this population. The aim of this study was to analyse the possible deficits in executive function, as well as the psychological profile of paediatric cancer patients. The sample consisted of 47 children, 16 with a diagnosis of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (M=10.96, SD=3.44), 12 with different Central Nervous System Tumours (Mean=11.70, SD=2.24) and 19 children without pathology who were part of the control group (Mean=11.37, SD=3.28). The SDQ and BRIEF-2 tests were administered to assess the psychological profile and executive functions in natural contexts respectively. A comparative analysis was carried out between the groups, finding deficits in executive function in children diagnosed with some type of cancer compared to the control group. However, no significant deficits were found in the psychological profile. In addition, other cross-sectional variables such as IQ, attention and processing speed were also analysed, all of which were affected in child cancer survivors. In conclusion, this study suggests the importance of further research aimed at identifying factors that can improve the quality of life of these children. | en |
