Heat waves as meteorological phenomena constituting risk to the population and the
natural environment not only occur in the most prone period, summer, but occasionally
extend into the autumn and spring. Therefore, this work will try to analyze how they are
distributed throughout the spring season in the meteorological observatories of the first
order of the Canary Islands and what is its intensity, linking its evolution to what was
predicted by the IPCC for the current and global context of climate change. The masses
of Saharan air object of this study occasionally affect the archipelago accompanied by
dust in suspension and the propagation of forest fires, therefore these variables will be
analyzed for the set of episodes of heat waves that have occurred during the spring in the
Canary Islands through the characterization of the state of the atmosphere.
