We have carried out a rigorous analysis of theconcept and general concept of work stress, of the factors that impact it,such as the characteristics of the job position, the way in which tasks arecarried out, working conditions, the use of new technologies, etc., as wellas the symptoms and related effects, concluding by stressing the importanceof the prevention of this risk , focusing on its assessment, management andintervention. An individual suffers stress at work when he is unable to face whathe perceives as excessive demand, because he does not have the necessaryresources to develop his/her tasks, or having them, because he is not able tomanage them. The cluster of stressors experienced over a long period of time canlead to Burnout Syndrome, also studied in the present work, along with itsjudicial treatment. This pathology results in physical, mental, and emotionalexhaustion that often affects workers exposed to high and constant levels ofstress. The effects of stress on individuals, when it´s perceived as a threat, can be very harmful and devastating to the worker, so actions must be takenagainst it, leading to their reduction or elimination through strategiescontained in our legislation, influencing the organizational factors of thework. In this context, both employer and workers should also cooperate toidentify, manage, and take effective action on stress problems in theworkplace.
