AB The work presented in the following pages deals with the Specialist Family FosterCare, a measure of protection for children with special needs in situations of helplessness, whichalthough it has been developed in many countries of the world for years, remains a measureirregular and incipient in Spain, and more significantly in Canarias. This work is not based on ananalysis of the measure itself, but rather seeks to study the existing documentation and compare itwith the needs perceived by the professionals involved in the Canarian Program of SpecialistFoster Family Care. It is about the union of two distinct aspects that go, or should go, hand in hand:on the one hand the existence of specific material of consultation based on the experience and theinvestigation of this measure; and on the other the evaluation and needs perceived by theintervention team that in our autonomous community works directly with the families and childrenunder the Canarian Program of Specialist Foster Family Care. That is to say, it is only to know ifthe interests of the professionals of the direct intervention with the families and the interests of theprofessionals of the investigation in the field of the family and the children have gone so far as faras the Specialist Family Foster Care is concerned, and determine possible future lines of researchbased on the needs that arise from the intervention.
