Enfermería, estereotipos y estigmatización del usuario drogodependiente.

Abstract

Negative stereotypes and consequent stigmatization are common in the mental health patient. Within these, we find a group more punished, if possible, by the stigmata, the drug-dependent patient. The nursing staff that attends to these patients can also be a victim of the stigmatizing social current, which would harm the process of detoxification and healing. Detecting stigmatizing structures within the nursing staff will improve, therefore, the quality of the care provided. For this we have passed two questionnaires, a survey on the Hospital Detoxification Unit of the University Hospital and its users; and a questionnaire prepared from the AQ-27 questionnaire.

Los estereotipos negativos y la consiguiente estigmatización son habituales en el paciente de salud mental. Dentro de estos, encontramos un grupo más castigado, si cabe, por los estigmas, el paciente drogodependiente. El personal de enfermería que atiende a estos pacientes puede ser también víctima de la corriente social estigmatizadora, lo que perjudicaría el proceso de desintoxicación y curación. Detectar estructuras estigmatizantes dentro del personal de enfermería mejorará, por tanto, la calidad de los cuidados prestados.
