Conciencia patrimonial: Actuaciones en torno al desaparecido patrimonio de la iglesia parroquial de La Matanza de Acentejo tras su incendio en 1936

Abstract

La madrugada del 26 de junio de 1936 el monumento más significativo de La Matanza de Acentejo ardió en un incendio intencionado, la Iglesia de El Salvador. Tras ello se planteó la rehabilitación del mismo, siendo conscientes de la importancia patrimonial que tenía en la población. Pero la coincidencia del atentado con la Guerra Civil Española hizo que el contexto y las necesidades cambiaran, de tal forma que, a pesar de tener conocimiento del valor del citado templo, se decidiese por su derribo y la posterior erección de uno nuevo

«Patrimonial consciousness. Some actions on the lost heritage of the parish church of La Matanza de Acentejo after 1936 fire». The morning of 26th june 1936, the most significant monument of La Matanza de Acentejo, the church of El Salvador, burned down in a arson attack. After being aware of the significance this heritage had had on the population the restoration was planned, but the coincidence with the attack of the Spanish Civil War made the needs change. Thus though they were conscious about the value of the temple, its demolition and the subsequent erection were decided.
