El 25 de enero de 1554, el entonces Hermano José de Anchieta, con sus compañeros jesuitas, fundó la ciudad de São Paulo de Piratininga (Brasil). En esta época moderna, en 1954, el jesuita P. Oricchio publicó en la revista Verbum un poema neolatino para conmemorar su 4.º Centenario. Ahora el autor de este artículo reedita el poema y también lo traduce y comenta con motivo de la celebración del 450.º Aniversario de la ciudad paulista
On January 25th, 1554, the then Brother José de Anchieta with the Jesuit mates founded
the town of São Paulo de Piratininga (Brazil). Lately, in 1954, the Jesuit Father Oricchio
published a neo-latin poem in Verbum magazine to commemorate its fourth Centenary.
Now the author of this article translates, reprints and comments the poem on occasion of
the 450th anniversary of the City of São Paulo.
