Arte y monarquía en La Gomera en 1707: la fiesta por el nacimiento de Luis I de Borbón

Abstract

Con este trabajo pretendemos dar a conocer las fiestas que se celebraron en la isla de La Gomera conmemorando el nacimiento de Luis I de Borbón en 1707. La importancia de este hecho tiene una doble lectura: artística y política. Mientras que resulta interesante el análisis de las manifestaciones vinculadas al conocimiento del hecho artístico, las implicaciones políticas que aparecen las conectan directamente no sólo con la fiesta regia sino con un momento crucial de la Historia de España: la Guerra de Sucesión.

With this work we try to announce the fest that were celebrated in the island of La Gomera commemorating Luis I de Borbón’s birth in 1707. The importance of this fact has a double reading: artistic and political. Whereas there turns out to be interesting the analysis of the manifestations linked to the knowledge of the artistic fact, the political implications that appear connect them directly not only with the royal fest but with a crucial moment of the History of Spain: the Succession war.
