El artículo versa sobre la concepción de la poesía en el poeta cubano José Martí. Se emplean textos de varias de sus obras, todos aquellos en los que trata el tema. Tras una crítica a la poesía de España, a la que censura de excesivamente rígida y formal, Martí define su poética y aboga por una poesía sencilla y desprovista de ornamentos artificiales.
The article discusses the concept of poetry in the Cuban poet José
Martí. Texts of several of his works are used, all those in which the writer deals with the
theme. After a criticism of the poetry of Spain, considered by him as excessively rigid and
formal, Martí defines his poetics and calls for a simple poetry, devoid of artificial vestments.
