Neuromodulación percutánea y electrólisis percutánea intratisular en pacientes con tendinopatía rotuliana crónica: un proyecto de investigación.

Abstract

Introducción: Las tendinopatías son unas de las lesiones más frecuentes en el mundo deportivo y la población laboral industrial, aunque también pueden aparecer en sujetos sedentarios. Concretamente, la tendinopatía rotuliana, se da sobre todo en aquellos deportes que conllevan movimientos repetitivos y se produce, generalmente, en la inserción proximal del tendón en el polo inferior de la rótula. La electrolisis percutánea intratisular y la neuromodulación percutánea son dos técnicas utilizadas actualmente en el tratamiento de la tendinopatía rotuliana. Sin embargo, no existen suficientes estudios que avalen la efectividad de su combinación. Objetivos: La finalidad de este estudio es comparar la efectividad de la terapia combinada de EPI® y NMP con respecto a una terapia aislada de EPI® y un tratamiento aislado de rehabilitación convencional, en pacientes con tendinopatía rotuliana crónica. Metodología: Se realizará un estudio experimental compuesto por una muestra lo más amplia posible con edades comprendidas entre los 18 y los 65 años. Los pacientes serán distribuidos de manera aleatorizada en tres grupos de tratamiento con intervenciones diferentes. Resultados: Las variables del estudio serán el dolor y la funcionalidad. Para su medición se utilizarán la Escala Visual Analógica (EVA) y el cuestionario Victorian Institute of Sport Assessment- Patella (VISA P), respectivamente. Discusión: Si tras la realización del estudio se observan beneficios estadísticamente significativos en cuanto a la aplicación de esta terapia combinada, se podría implantar, de manera más globalizada, en el tratamiento de las tendinopatías rotulianas. Esto supondría una disminución del tiempo de tratamiento, del periodo de baja laboral y del periodo de inactividad en la población deportista.

Introduction: Tendinopathies are ones of the most frequent injuries in the sports world and the industrial working population, although they can also appear in sedentary subjects. Specifically, patellar tendinopathy occurs mainly in those sports that involve repetitive movements and takes places, generally, in the proximal insertion of the tendon at the lower pole of the patella. Percutaneous intratissular electrolysis and percutaneous neuromodulation are two techniques currently used in the treatment of patellar tendinopathy. However, there are not enough studies to support the effectiveness of their combination. Objectives: The purpose of this study is to compare the effectiveness of the combination therapy of EPI® and NMP with respect to an isolated therapy of EPI® and an isolated treatment of conventional rehabilitation, in patients with chronic patellar tendinopathy. Methodology: An experimental study consisting of a sample as broad as possible with individuals of between 18 and 65 years of age will be conducted. Patients will be distributed randomly in three treatment groups with different interventions. Results: The study variables will be pain and functionality. The Analogue Visual Scale (VAS) and the Victorian Institute of Sport Assessment-Patella questionnaire (VISA-P) will be respectively used for their measurement. Discussion: If, after carrying out the study, statistically significant benefits are observed in terms of the application of this combination therapy, it could be implanted, in a more globalized manner, for the treatment of patellar tendinopathies. This would mean a reduction in the time of treatment, the period of sick leave and the period of inactivity in the sport population.
