Del auge a la crisis de la agricultura tradicional en Tinajo (Lanzarote).

Abstract

Tinajo es uno de los pocos municipios de Lanzarote que reúne unas condiciones en la tierra óptimas para que se dé un buen aprovechamiento agrícola. La diversidad de sus sistemas agrarios tradicionales así lo testifica, constituyendo el análisis de los mismos una buena parte de esta investigación. Es un municipio conocido por el arraigo que aún tiene la agricultura entre sus gentes y también porque de sus tierras sale una uva malvasía de gran calidad. A pesar de todo ello sus sistemas agroecológicos tradicionales, de gran valor para la sostenibilidad y también patrimonial, se han visto enormemente desplazado como fuente económica por el sector terciario, y dentro de éste por el turismo. Se investigarán las causas económico-sociales de la decadencia de la agricultura, entre las que destaca la influencia del auge y consolidación del turismo conejero a principios de los años ochenta del pasado siglo XX.

Tinajo is one of the few municipalities of Lanzarote that gathers optimal conditions in the land to give a good agricultural use. The diversity of their traditional agrarian systems testifies it, constituting the analysis of them is a part of this investigation. It is a municipality known for the roots of the agriculture that is still among its people and also because of its land that comes with a high quality Malvasia grape. In spite of all this, their traditional agroecological systems, of great value for sustainability and also heritage, have been greatly displaced as an economic source by the tertiary sector, and within it by tourism. The economic and social causes of the decline of the agriculture will be investigated, among which stands out the influence at its peak and the consolidation of the Lanzarote tourism at the beginning of the eighties of the past twentieth century.
