Evolución arquitectónica y enriquecimiento artístico de la parroquia de Tijarafe en el siglo XVIII (La Palma)

Abstract

La parroquia de Tijarafe pertenece al conjunto de iglesias que fueron fundadas en años posteriores a la finalización de la conquista de las islas. Con nuestro artículo pretendemos ahondar, mediante la lectura pormenorizada de los archivos parroquiales, en la evolución arquitectónica y el enriquecimiento artístico del templo en el siglo xviii. Con unas características singulares, propias del lugar y su idiosincrasia, la realidad de la parroquia también puede extrapolarse, con la salvedad de las originalidades que le son inherentes, al resto de edificaciones canarias.

The parish of Tijarafe belongs to that group of churches that were founded after the end of the conquest of Canary Islands. In this article we intend to delve, through the detailed reading of the parish archives, into the architectural evolution and the artistic enrichment of the temple in the 18th century. With a reality and unique characteristics, typical of the place and its idiosyncrasy, the reality of the parish can also be extrapolated, with the exception of the originalities that are inherent to it, to the rest of the Canarian buildings.
