The main objective of this project is to show the knowledge acquired during the
studies of the Degree in Mechanical Engineering. The elaboration of this technical
document reflects the application of many competences, such as the ability to write, sign
and develop projects in the field of Mechanical Industrial Engineering. Also, the handling
of specifications, regulations and mandatory standards, and performing measurements
and calculations are examples of this competences.
Furthermore, this project has to contain the study of a desalination plant fed with
renewable energies for a cultivation in the North of Tenerife. The production produces 2000 m3
/day using the reverse osmosis process. Therefore, the purpose is to cover the
water necessity of a part of the banana plantation in Buenavista del Norte. The chosen
area will have 58,83 hectares, which is the 20% of the total banana plantation. However,
the final area will be 68,77 hectares of the total area.
In addition, the desalination plant will have a specific consumption of 2,628
kWh/m3
that is supplied by wave power. It generated by the wave movement. So, the
device that will be used for the project is the Butterfly, designed by Rotary Wave S.L.
company. The mechanism isn´t enough to cover the energy consumption of the
desalination plant. For this reason, it will receive any modification.
