Genealogía e Historia Social: el ejemplo de Marina Fernández de Vera en Tegueste

Abstract

Con la interrelación de genealogía e historia social se trata de definir con mayor precisión los comportamientos demográficos, sociales, económicos y políticos de una sociedad de frontera como la tinerfeña de principios del siglo XVI, tomando como ejemplo a Marina Fernández de Vera, una mujer perteneciente a la elite rural de la comarca de Tegueste cuya trayectoria vital permite extraer una serie de conclusiones sumamente interesantes.

Studies on the interrelationships between genealogy and social history allow for a more precise definition of demographic, social, economic and political behaviours in border societies, like the one in Tenerife at the beginning of the 16th century. We have applied this approach to the case of Marina Fernández de la Vera, a woman pertaining to the rural elite of the region of Tegueste, whose life allows us to draw a series of interesting conclusions.
