In this final project, a complete study was accomplished for a thermal solar installation
and a photovoltaic solar installation, to reduce maintenance costs at the El Polvorín de
Taco sports complex, located in the municipality of San Cristóbal de La Laguna. The
study was based on the actual consumption data provided by the maintenance manager of
complex.
First, the solar thermal installation has been designed to adjust the temperature of both
swimming pools and hot water. It has been designed in such way that the collectors are
placed directly on the roof of the pool, adapting them to the already existing
characteristics of inclination and orientation. It is concluded that 220 collectors of the
Escosol FMAX 2.4 model has to be installed.
Apart from the solar collectors, the other equipment involved in the installation that have
also been designed are pipes, heat exchangers, expansion tank, heat accumulators,
insulators and circulation pumps.
Secondly, it was studied to add a photovoltaic solar installation taking advantage of the
remaining space on the roof with the same characteristics of inclination and orientation.
It was decided to install a total of 85 solar panels of 325 W by the manufacturer Talesun,
with a 25 kW inverter by the manufacturer Fronius.
Similarly, the other components that make up the installation have been dimensioned are
wiring, earth connection, magnetothermic, differential and fuses.
Finally, the necessary schemes have been carried out through plans or sketches with
which it is intended to facilitate the understanding of how both technologies will be
distributed and connected, both on the roof of the complex and in the engine room.
