Obesidad infantil en Canarias

Abstract

La obesidad se ha convertido en uno de los problemas más graves de la sociedad del siglo XXI, y por ende, una de las mayores preocupaciones de los gobiernos estatales y los sistemas sanitarios a nivel mundial. Actuaciones protagonizadas por la OMS así lo cercioran y tratan de informar a la población sobre el riesgo de padecer esta enfermedad, y los posibles inconvenientes o enfermedades secundarias derivadas de padecer la obesidad. En España, junto con algunos países del Mediterráneo, es uno de los países más acusados por esta enfermedad. Y si centramos el foco de atención en nuestra Comunidad Autónoma nos muestra que nos encontramos encabezando la lista en cuanto a obesidad infantil. Este sector de mayor vulnerabilidad está sufriendo las consecuencias de una estructura socio-cultural instaurada en nuestro país. La búsqueda de nuevas soluciones que implementen las medidas tomadas durante las últimas dos décadas, sin la obtención de resultados favorables, es una de las cuestiones más llamativas de este trabajo.

Obesity has become one of the most serious problems of the 21st century´s society, and therefore, one of the biggest concerns of the states governments and Sanitary systems worldwide. Actions carried out by the OMS make sure of it and try to inform the population about the risk of suffering this disease, aside from the possible disadvantages or secondary diseases that have been produced by the obesity. In Spain, along with other Mediterranean countries, it is one of the most acussed country of this illness. And if we focus the attention in our Autonomous Community we realised that we are on the top of the childhood obesity list. The increase vulnerability of this population sector is suffering this socio-cultural structure consequences in our country. The search of new solutions which can implement the measures taken about two decades ago, without any favorable results, is one of the most streaking questions of this project.
