Evaluación del impacto físico, social y emocional de los pacientes portadores de colostomías.

Abstract

El término colostomía se define como una intervención quirúrgica que tiene como objetivo realizar una abertura entre el colon y la pared abdominal, para así eliminar el contenido fecal de forma parcial o total (13,14) . Dentro de la medicina, en general se centran en el ámbito biológico de las enfermedades en sí, sin prestar atención en las consecuencias que tienen sobre los pacientes. La presencia de una ostomía puede provocar un gran cambio en la percepción de imagen del paciente, afectando también a sus relaciones sociales y familiares. El objetivo de este trabajo consiste en investigar el impacto emocional, físico y social de los pacientes en el uso de colostomía pertenezcan al Complejo Hospitalario Universitario de Canarias y al Hospital Universitario de Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria, se le pedirá ayuda a la enfermera estomaterapeuta que se encuentre en cada uno de dichos hospitales para llevar a cabo el proyecto. La metodología empleada será de carácter cualitativa y cuantitativa. Por un lado, se ha llevado a cabo un cuestionario separado por cuatro bloques distintos. Tras esto, se realizaran grupos focales. En este trabajo tienen como finalidad establecer si los pacientes portadores de colostomía muestran dificultades en sus relaciones sociales y familiares, además de conocer si afecta a su grado de autoestima.

The term colostomy is defined as a surgical procedure that aims to make an opening between the colon and the abdominal wall, in order to eliminate the fecal content partially or in total (13,14) . Within medicine, they generally focus on the biological field of diseases themselves, without paying attention to the consequences they have on patients. The presence of an ostomy can cause a major change in the patient´s image perception, also affecting their social and family relationships. The objective of this work is to investigate the emotional, physical and social impact of patients in the use of colostomy in the “Hospital Universitario de Canarias” and the “ Hospital Universitario Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria”, the stomatherapist nurse in each of these hospitals will be asked to help carry out the project. The methodology used will be qualitative and quantitative in nature. On one hand a questionnaire has been carried out separated by four different blocks. After this, focus groups were made. In this work they aim to establish whether patients carrying colostomy show difficulties in their social and family relationships, in addition to knowing if it affects their degree of self-esteem.
