363 sujetos. COPD is a lung disease defined by chronic limitation of air flow to the lungs. There is no
cure for this disease, but there is a prevention plan and treatments to control associated
symptoms such as dyspnea. COPD can lead to diseases like Cor Pulmonale, which is
defined as right ventricular hypertrophy that produces right heart failure associated with
pulmonary hypertension. Both diseases are increasing in our society so we propose this
research project whose main objective is to study the prevalence of Cor Pulmonale in
patients with COPD in the North Area of the island of Tenerife and who are treated in the
Pneumology office of the CHUC. To reach this objective, a review of the medical histories
of a sample of 363 subjects is planned.
