crónica: hospitalizaciones, aislamiento laboral y social, imagen corporal negativa, etc.
There’s more than 150.000 patients that has Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) in Spain
and the 42% of them has Crohn’s disease. Patients diagnosed with Crohn's disease
suffer a lot of changes in their life because of the chronic pathology like hospitalizations,
social and work isolation, negative social image, etc. This disturbance in the patients’ life
is closely related with their mental health and welness, so they have more prevalence
than the rest of the society to show stress, anxiety and depression. These manifestations
may have negative impact in the development and evolution of the disease. Due to this
fact, it’s important to pay attention to the patients’ mental health, so they can receive a
holistic care.
For this reason, the main aim of this educational intervention project is give the needed
skills to manage stress and anxiety and knowledge of the disease to the patient.
Los Gladiolos Health Center, in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, will hold 3 sessions for the
optimal development of the intervention. During these sessions topics about the disease
will be discussed and the participants will receive techniques to reduce stress and
anxiety. To determinate the intervention’s efficiency the patients’ has to complete a poll
in the last session to value the intervention and its influence on their lives.
