Sobre el concepto de aculturación: una aproximación teórica al estudio de los procesos de interacción cultural

Abstract

Presentamos una breve síntesis en torno al empleo del concepto de «aculturación» a lo largo de la teoría antropológica del siglo XX. Tratamos, como primera preocupación, de identificar una sistemática de los usos conceptuales del término a través de su aplicación a los estudios relacionados con los procesos de interacción cultural. Se advierten así distintas etapas que van a estar en consonancia tanto con las corrientes teóricas y metodológicas como con las realidades contextuales que las generaron. De la dialéctica resultante entre los enfoques estáticos o diacrónicos aplicados al problema de la interacción cultural, sin embargo, se coincide en un mismo uso genérico de «acculturation» que parte de su nacimiento ambiguo para reducir científicamente cualquier fenómeno de cambio cultural derivado del contacto.

We present a brief synthesis on the use of the concept of «acculturation» throughout the anthropological theory of the Twentieth Century. As first concern, we proceed to identify a systematics of the conceptual uses of the concept through its application to the studies related to the processes of cultural interaction. Thus, different stages are observed, being them in accordance not only with the theoretical and methodological tendencies but also with the contextual realities that generated them. However, from the resulting dialectics between the static or diachronic approaches applied to the question of cultural interaction if is believed that there is only one generic use of «acculturation» which comes from its ambiguous birth to scientifically reduce any possibility of cultural change derived from the contact.
