Incendio buque Volcán de Teneguía 2020

Abstract

En este trabajo de Fin de grado, se pretende explicar cómo fue el incendio que se produjo en el buque Volcán de Teneguía el día 22 de febrero 2020, así como los motivos y las causas. El principal motivo del incendio fue el sobrecalentamiento del aceite térmico que produjo un derrame de este a altas temperaturas ocasionando un incendio. El aceite térmico se usa para calentar el Fuel Oil que está presente en la mayoría de los buques. El incendio produjo graves daños en el correcto funcionamiento del buque, lo que hizo que el Volcán de Teneguía tuviese que ser remolcado hasta el puerto más cercano porque estaba a la deriva sin motores. Sin embargo, el incendio logró ser sofocado por la tripulación a bordo. Aparte, también se expondrá y analizará la normativa, relativa al SOLAS, que trata específicamente las medidas que han de ser tomadas para evitar los incendios en los buques, y si no se es capaz de evitarlo, como combatir estos incendios. La normativa actual tiene como finalidad salvaguardar la vida en la mar, proteger los ecosistemas y permitir la buena navegación.

This proposed study is focused on the fire ship incident occurred on the vessel “Volcán de Teneguía” in February 22, 2020 in order to examine the causes and origin of the fire. The main reason for the fire was the overheating of the thermal oil that produced a spill at high temperatures causing a fire. Thermal oil is used to heat the Fuel Oil that is present in most ships. The fire caused serious damage to the proper functioning of the ship, which caused the Teneguía Volcano to be towed to the nearest port because it was adrift without engines. However, the fire managed to be put out by the crew on board. In addition, it will also expose and analyze the regulations, relative to SOLAS, which specifically deals with the measures that must be taken to prevent fires on ships, and if it is not able to avoid it, how to fight these fires. The current regulations are intended to safeguard life at sea, protect ecosystems and allow good navigation.
