Los romances shakespeareanos: definición, descripción y características

Abstract

En este artículo se presentan, principalmente, algunas de las dificultades encontradas en las obras que Shakespeare escribió en su última etapa, en concreto, Pericles, Cymbeline, The Winter’s Tale y The Tempest. La crítica ha pretendido agruparlas bajo el término «romance», aunque no hay consenso entre los eruditos del tema. Aun así, y después del análisis concienzudo de estas cuatro obras, se puede apreciar que todas ellas poseen unas características comunes tanto en el plano estructural como en el temático y genérico.

This article presents some of the difficulties found in Shakespeare’s late works, particularly Pericles, Cymbeline, The Winter’s Tale and The Tempest. Critics have tried to group them under the term «romance», although not all experts seem to agree. In spite of this, and following a thorough analysis of these four plays, it is evident that all of them have common characteristics in structure as well as in theme and genre.
