La señorita de Trevélez: tragedia grotesca de Carlos Arniches

Abstract

Este artículo indaga en las relaciones de un género como la tragedia grotesca con una de las obras más significativas de Carlos Arniches: La señorita de Trevélez. Nos hemos acercado no sólo a aquellos aspectos teatrales de la tragedia grotesca, sino también a aquellos elementos sociales. Mediante el análisis de los personajes de la obra, podemos extraer aquellos temas que preocupaban a Arniches dentro de la España del momento, sobre todo, su afán regeneracionista.

This article inquires into the relations of a genre like grotesque tragedy with one of the most significative plays of Carlos Arniches: La señorita de Trevélez. We have approached not only the theatrical aspects of the grotesque tragedy, but also the social levels. With the analysis of the play characters we can extract the themes that worried Arniches in the Spain where he lives, over all, about «regeneracionismo».
