El arte de la seda: el tejido litúrgico en Canarias (los ornamentos de la catedral de La Laguna)

Abstract

La catalogación de los tejidos y bordados artísticos que se conservan en Canarias constituye un capítulo pendiente. A partir del estudio del importante conjunto de ornamentos que posee la catedral de La Laguna, su diverso origen y su evolución a través de los siglos XVI al XX, pretendemos abrir camino para futuras investigaciones sobre la materia con el fin de asignar una clasificación, datación y atribución más concreta a los tejidos existentes, en especial en relación a los centros productores y exportadores más destacados: españoles (Valencia, Sevilla, Granada, Cádiz, Madrid y Toledo), europeos (Países Bajos, Génova, Lyon), orientales o americanos.

The classification of the weaves and the artistic embroideries is a question to be studied at. From the studies of the very important group of the ornaments that La Laguna Cathedral has, its diverse origen and its evolution from XVI to XX centuries. We try to let future generations to study of on the topic in order to get a classification, a dating and a more concrete atribution to the weaves already known, specially in relation to the main places which were made and sold; the spanish ones such as; Valencia, Sevilla, Granada, Cádiz, Madrid and Toledo; the european ones (Países Bajos, Genova, Lyon); the oriental or the american ones.
