Aproximación a la cuestión agraria en Tenerife: el ejemplo de Güimar

Abstract

Durante la segunda mitad del siglo XIX y primer tercio del XX se produce en el municipio de Güímar un recambio en cuanto a la clase dominante. Sin embargo, este proceso no va a suponer una transformación radical en cuanto a la realidad agraria: Güímar sigue siendo una zona de grandes terratenientes y las relaciones de producción continúan lastradas por fuertes elementos semifeudales.

During the second half of the XIX century and the first third of the XX century, a change has been produced in the municipality of Güímar as far as the ruling class is concerned. Nevertheless this process is not going to imply a radical transformation as far as the agricultural reality is concerned. Güímar still remains an area of great landowners and the relations of production keep being ballasted by strong and semifeudal elements.
