ciudadana Abstract. The current planetary emergency situation is caused by multiple interrelated problems,
and the only way to tackle them is to adopt a sustainable development. The transition to
Sustainability requires incorporating people outside the academic sphere and from different
areas into decision-making. Therefore, it is necessary to offer an integrated education based on
the pillars of Sustainability, that is, to include education for sustainability in the Secondary and
Baccalaureate curriculum. With this in mind, a design of an intervention proposal that deals
with the problem of malaria jointly from the subjects of Biology and Geology and Economics
is presented in this work. Extreme poverty is linked to characteristics of the planetary
emergency and precisely malaria is the main disease that causes poverty, since it not only
directly affects people's health, but also decreases their work and school performance, being
this is an economic ballast for the affected countries. Thus, to enjoy a sustainable future, the
disappearance of poverty is necessary, which will only be possible with, among other things,
the eradication of malaria. For this, the problem must be treated from an interdisciplinary point
of view and in collaboration with different areas, to achieve a better understanding of it.
Therefore, it is proposed that students develop a collaborative project about the disease, facing
it from the perspective of the aforementioned subjects. Thus, they will not only develop
interpersonal skills, useful for living in society, but they will see the importance of approaching
planetary problems in an interdisciplinary way, as well as being properly informed when
intervening in those policies that require the citizen participation.
