El teletrabajo en España: análisis y evolución reciente

Abstract

En esta Memoria se analiza la evolución del teletrabajo en España desde 2006 hasta 2020, comparando, además, con los países de Europa. Utilizando datos del INE y Eurostat, los resultados muestran que el teletrabajo se ha incrementado de manera importante durante el periodo analizado, especialmente en 2020 como consecuencia de la COVID-19. Las nuevas tecnologías y la cobertura de banda han favorecido el desarrollo de esta modalidad laboral. Además, se obtiene que las mujeres teletrabajan de manera habitual más que los hombres y que son los individuos de entre 25 y 54 años los que más usan el teletrabajo. Asimismo, se encuentra que los autónomos teletrabajan en mayor medida que los asalariados, siendo Madrid, Cataluña y Melilla las regiones con mayor uso del mismo. Por otro lado, España está por debajo de la media europea en cuanto al teletrabajo se refiere, siendo los países nórdicos quienes más lo usan.

This study analyzes the evolution of teleworking in Spain from 2006 to 2020, comparing the results with those found for the Europe countries. Using data from INE and Eurostat, the results show that teleworking has increased significantly during the period considered, especially in 2020 due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. New technologies and bandwidth coverage have allowed the development of remote work in the last decades. Moreover, the results show that women use regular teleworking more than men do, being the individuals aged between 25 and 54 those who use teleworking to the greatest extent. Noticeable, the proportion of self-employed who use teleworking is higher than the corresponding to salaried workers. In addition, Madrid, Cataluña, and Melilla are the regions with the highest use of teleworking. The international comparison shows that Spain is below the European average in relation to remote work use, being the Nordic countries those where teleworking is most widely used.
