Cambios recientes del perfil de los turistas y sus implicaciones en Canarias

Abstract

El turismo es una actividad de creciente importancia, cobrando cada vez más relevancia en todos los países del mundo. Además de ser una parte fundamental de la economía, también lo es para la sociedad, tanto en el ámbito laboral como en el tiempo libre. Las clases medias cada vez viajan más, son más exigentes, y como consecuencia de ello, la oferta y la comercialización debe adaptarse. Por ello, es esencial analizar este campo que se encuentra en constante cambio y creciente competitividad. En este caso nos centramos en estudiar a los protagonistas principales de este sector, los turistas. Además, con el estallido del brote de coronavirus (COVID-19) y las consecuencias que ha desencadenado, han surgido una gran cantidad de preguntas a nivel mundial, ¿Qué buscará el próximo turista? ¿Habrá un nuevo perfil del turista pos-COVID-19? ¿Cómo afectará este hecho a lugares turísticos como Canarias? Sin duda, la seguridad entre otras muchas cosas, será la que tenga la llave y otorgará confianza a los turistas en su destino elegido.

Tourism is an activity of growing importance, increasingly gaining relevance in all countries around the world. As well as being a fundamental part of the economy, it is also a relevant part of society, both in terms of work and leisure time. The middle classes are travelling more and they are becoming more demanding. As a consequence, supply and commercialisation must be adapted. Hence, it is essential to analyse this constantly changing and increasingly competitive field. In this case, we focus on studying and analysing the main protagonists of this sector, the tourists. Furthermore, with the outbreak of the coronavirus (COVID-19) and the consequences it has caused, a large number of questions have arisen world wide: What will the next tourist be looking for? Will there be a new profile of the post-covid19 tourist? How will this fact affects tourist destinations such as the Canary Islands? Undoubtedly, security, among many other things, will hold the key and give tourists confidence in their chosen destination
