obtener puntos y ganar. The aim of this Final Degree Project is to present a study on the use of rule games with
mathematical content in a 2nd year Primary Education classroom. In the first part of the
paper, a theoretical review of different works that analyse this topic and, in the second
part,an exploratory study is presented, with 8 students, focused on the analysis of how they
apply mathematical knowledge in game activities, what strategies they use and the most
significant errors, as well as observing the degree of motivation in mathematical tasks in a
game context.
The results indicate that the pupils in general accept the games with great interest and
when conceptual difficulties arise, they ask their classmates and the teacher for help,
motivated by their understanding of the games and their desire to be able to play and
compete to obtain points and win.
