Reflejos del Agua

Abstract

‘’Reflejos del agua’’ constituye un proyecto visual cuyo objetivo principal es el de concientizar sobre la problemática medioambiental. Teniendo en cuenta el deplorable impacto que el ser humano ha tenido en los océanos sobre todo (desde vertidos, pesca intensiva hasta los temidos micro-plásticos, entre otros muchos) la vida marina se convierte en el principal motivo de esta serie de ilustraciones, cuidadosamente representadas en un álbum ilustrado. La figura de las ballenas es protagonista en estas historias que narran la magnificencia de la biodiversidad marina que habita la isla de Tenerife, único santuario europeo de ballenas. Estos cuentos no sólo buscan trazar la dura realidad de los ecosistemas acuáticos, sino también tocar en lo profundo de los corazones de sus lectores, así como encender su amor y respeto por la naturaleza. Nuevas generaciones significan nuevos comienzos, y es por ello que educar con respecto a los temas anteriormente mencionados, se ha vuelto más crucial que nunca. Educar a través del arte, y específicamente a través de álbumes ilustrados, ha probado ser de gran eficaciasin importar edades, pero es especialmente cierto para el público infantil, en cuya mente se sembrará una fuerte semilla.

Water Reflexions is a visual project which primary aim is to raise consciousness in the topic of environmental awareness. On account of the despicable impact humankind has had on our oceans (From waste discharges to intensive fishing and micro-plastics, just to name a few) Marine life becomesthe starring motive through the series of illustrations carefully depicted in this picture book. Whales are the main character of a story that portrays the magnificence of the marine biodiversity that inhabits Tenerife, a legacy like no other in Europe. These tales not only seek to outline the harsh reality of the endangered water ecosystems, but also attempt to touch deeply in the hearts of its readers and awaken their love and respect to Nature. New generations mean new beginnings, and therefore their education concerning the matters previously mentioned becomes more crucial than ever. Educating through art, and specifically through picture books has shown to be highly effective regardless of age, but it is especially true for children. A book is a powerful seed. Pictures are its fuel.
