Morfología y distribución de Boergeseniella fruticulosa en las islas Canarias (Rhodophyta, Rhodomelaceae).

Abstract

Seestudia el hábito y la morfología vegetativayreproductora de las plantas de Boergeseniella fruticulosa de las islas Canarias. Las plantas canarias son más pequeñas y tienen estructuras reproductoras de dimensiones más reducidas que las observadas en las poblaciones de las costas europeas. Plantas no fértiles son comunes en todos los meses de año, las estructuras reproductoras se forman principalmente en primavera, mostrando diferencias con la fenología reproductora de las plantas europeas, las cuales forman los esporangios, los cistocarpos y las ramas espermatangiales entre finales de primavera y finales del otoño.

Habitand vegetative and reproductive morphology have been examined in plants of Boergeseniella fruticulosa from the Canary Islands. Plants from the Canary Islands are smaller in habit and its have smaller reproductive structures than the specimens from the European coasts. Non fertile plants are common in all monthsofthe year and the sporangia, the cystocarps and the spermatangial branches occur mainly in spring, showingdifferences with the reproductive phenology of European plants, which form reproductive structures between the late spring and the late autumn.
