programa IBM SPSS Statistics 23. | es |
dc.description.abstract | Metabolic syndrome has become one of the main global health problems of the 21st
century, and one of the most widely used tools for its treatment are diets based on caloric
restriction. However, other methods are emerging, such as intermittent fasting, which is
considered a promising non-pharmacological strategy to treat this group of pathologies.
The main purpose of this research project is to assess the effectiveness of intermittent
fasting in the improvement of the health of the population affected by metabolic syndrome.
It is a randomized controlled clinical trial in the Primary Care System setting in Tenerife
(Canary Islands, Spain). For this purpose, the volunteers who meet the inclusion criteria
and are assigned to the intervention group will follow a Mediterranean diet with an
intermittent fasting of 16/8 hours (minimum 5 days/week) for six months, while those
assigned to the control group will follow a Mediterranean diet without time restriction for
the same period of time. Controls will be performed at the beginning, at three and six
months, measuring sociodemographic and lifestyle variables (age, sex, physical activity),
anthropometric variables (abdominal perimeter, weight, height, BMI), blood biochemical
variables (total cholesterol, c-LDL, c-HDL, triglycerides, basal glycemia), blood pressure
and quality of life (EUROQOL 5 Dimensions health questionnaire (EQ - 5D). The data
obtained will be statistically processed with the IBM SPSS Statistics 23 program. | en |
