Estudio del impacto de la psoriasis en la vida de las mujeres que la padecen

Introducción: La psoriasis es una enfermedad inflamatoria crónica. Tiene una prevalencia en
torno al 3% de la población mundial, la mitad son mujeres. Existe un porcentaje importante de
pacientes que se encuentran en edad reproductiva y, tanto la psoriasis como sus tratamientos,
pueden influir en la fertilidad, el embarazo, el post-parto y la lactancia o, a la inversa.
Material y métodos: Estudio observacional retrospectivo en una sola visita, con una muestra de
25 pacientes de mujeres con psoriasis moderada a severa en seguimiento en el Servicio de
Dermatología del Complejo Hospital Universitario de Canarias.
Resultados: En una muestra de 25 pacientes, un 72% de ellas habían alcanzado niveles de
enfermedad severa. En cuanto al impacto sociofamiliar, un 76% vivía en pareja, el 48% de las
pacientes presentó problemas en la esfera sexual relacionándose con presencia de localizaciones
en el área genital. Un 76% tenían hijos, de estas, el 68,4% no habían recibido suficiente
información antes, durante y tras el embarazo de los problemas en relación con la enfermedad. El
40% refirió haber tenido que coger bajas laborales y un 52%, afirmaron haber presentado alguna
enfermedad psiquiátrica a lo largo de la vida.
Conclusiones: Se ha observado una asociación significativa entre las lesiones de localización
genital con los problemas en la vida sexual de las mujeres de nuestro estudio. Un 52% refirieron
haber padecido alguna enfermedad de la esfera psiquiátrica y, un 68,4% refirió que no había
recibido suficiente información antes, durante y después del embarazo. De esta forma, se invita a
reflexionar sobre la importancia de implantar una consultapre-concepcional en Dermatología. Introduction: Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory disease. It has a prevalence of around 3% of the
world population, and a 50% of the affected people are women. There is a significant percentage
of patients who are at their reproductive age and psoriasis as well as its treatments can influence
fertility, pregnancy, postpartum and lactation, or vice versa.
Material and methods: Retrospective observational study in a single visit, using a sample of 25
patients of women with moderate to severe psoriasis under monitoring at the Dermatology Service
of the Complejo Hospital Universitario de Canarias.
Results: In our sample of 25 patients, 72% had a severity PASI. Regarding the socio-family
impact, 76% lived with a partner. 48% of the patients presentedproblems in the sexual sphere,
related to the presence of locations in the genital area.76% had children, and a 68.4% of these had
not received enough information before, during and after pregnancy about problems related to the
disease. Finally, a 40% claimed to have had to takesome time off work in relation to the disease. In
the study of the emotional impact, we can concludethat a 52% affirmed to have presented some
psychiatric illness throughout the life.
Conclusions: An association has been observed between genital lesions and problems in sexual
life of the women in our study. 52% of the surveyed reported having suffered from a psychiatric
illness,therefore the psychological impact is very important. A 68.4% reported that they had not
received enough information before, during and after pregnancy, which underscores the
importance of implementing a pre- conception consultation in Dermatology.
