Inmunización frente al papilomavirus en alumnos masculinos de la Universidad de La Laguna

Abstract

Introducción: El Virus del Papiloma Humano constituye en la actualidad un problema con un impacto socio-económico y de salud pública importante a escala mundial. Actualmente la vacunación en Canarias solo se contempla en mujeres y varones que tienen sexo con otros hombres. La intervención enfermera es relevante como agente de prevención mediante el fomento de una sexualidad saludable a través de la inmunización y la educación sexual. Objetivo: Conocer el estado inmunológico de la población masculina de la Universidad de La Laguna con respecto al papilomavirus y cuál es su predisposición para la vacunación frente a este. Metodología: Se realizará un estudio cuantitativo observacional de corte transversal a partir de una población de 5990 alumnos tinerfeños masculinos matriculados en primer curso de grado a través de un muestreo por conveniencia. Tras el dictamen favorable del comité ético y las autorizaciones de las direcciones de los centros, se pasará en las aulas un cuestionario semi-estructurado en línea para la auto cumplimentación por parte del alumnado que reúna los criterios de inclusión. Los datos registrados serán codificados y depurados para su ulterior análisis mediante el programa estadístico Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). Resultados esperados: Se espera obtener unos resultados que declaren que pocos estudiantes masculinos, o ninguno de ellos está vacunado contra el VPH por falta de conocimientos y tampoco ha recibido una educación sexual óptima.

Introduction: The Human Papilloma Virus is currently a worldwide issue with a high socioeconomic impact in society and in public health. Nowadays, in Canary Islands, the vaccination against this virus is only considered for women and for men who have sex with another man. Nurses have to take action, because they have the abilities to prevent this kind of illnesses promoting healthy sexuality and giving advices in sex education. Objective: To know the immunological status of male population of the University of La Laguna related with HPV and their inclination to get vaccinated of it. Methodology: A quantitative, observational and transverse study will be done with one group of the 5990 male students from Tenerife registered in ULL. This project will need the approval of the Ethical Committee and the Management of the ULL before it starts. For that, a form will be passed, being this own elaborated and creating an access to the mentioned form by a QR code. This one will address the questions required for the study and will be captured in a database to be analyzed afterwards with the statistical computer program called Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). The ones answering this form will only be the students who fulfil the standards. Expected results: The results we will obtain are ones that declare that only a few or no students are immunized from the HPV vaccine. We expect as well to know that they haven’t had a right sex education.
