Nivel de salud de pacientes incluidos en el protocolo Código Ictus

Abstract

El ictus constituye uno de los problemas sociosanitarios más trascendentales de la actualidad por la elevada incidencia y el aumento de supervivientes con dependencia. De ahí nace la Guía de Atención al Ictus, del Servicio Canario de Salud para poder abordar este problema. La rapidez en la detección de los síntomas y un tratamiento precoz son fundamentales para disminuir las posibles secuelas. El objetivo que se plantea es la investigación del nivel de salud percibida de los pacientes residentes de la isla de La Palma tras padecer un ictus. Se pretende conocer si las estrategias del “Código Ictus” para el abordaje de esta patología tienen algún impacto en la posterior calidad de vida y grado de dependencia de estas personas. En este proyecto se propone un estudio de diseño analítico, longitudinal y prospectivo de pacientes con ictus agudo de La Palma que se incluyan en el protocolo asistencial del “Código Ictus”. Para este fin, se recogerá información del proceso asistencial intrahospitalario. Al alta y transcurridos 6 meses desde el ictus, se emplearán el cuestionario EuroQol-5D, el índice de Barthel y la escala de Lawton-Brody como instrumentos para puntuar el nivel de calidad de vida y el grado de dependencia de los participantes en la investigación. Con el posterior análisis de resultados se quiere proporcionar una idea de la evolución funcional y el bienestar de estos pacientes.

Stroke constitutes one of the most important social health problems of today due to the high incidence and the increase in survivors with dependence. Hence the Stroke Care Guide, from the Canary Islands Health Service, was born to address this problem. Rapid detection of symptoms and early treatment are essential to reduce possible sequelae. The objective that is proposed is the investigation of the perceived level of health of the resident patients of the island of La Palma after suffering a stroke. It is intended to know if the strategies of the "Stroke Code" to address this pathology have any impact on the subsequent quality of life and degree of dependence of these people. This project proposes an analytical, longitudinal, and prospective design study of patients with acute stroke on La Palma that are included in the "Stroke Code" care protocol. For this purpose, information on the in-hospital care process will be collected. At discharge and 6 months after the stroke, the EuroQol-5D questionnaire, the Barthel index and the Lawton-Brody scale will be used as instruments to score the level of quality of life and the degree of dependency of the research participants. With the subsequent analysis of the results, we want to provide an idea of the functional evolution and well-being of these patients.
