Maritime workers find employment in a variety of fields, such as shipyards, marine
terminals, fishing, aquaculture, and shipping. These jobs present a series of occupational
risks, which, although they require a thorough evaluation, sometimes end in accidents
and/or professional illnesses. That is why it is so important to carry out accident
investigation, which allows the prevention plan for these jobs to be updated continuously.
The maritime work environment includes unique physical, chemical, biological,
psychological and social elements that can lead to occupational accidents, injuries and
illnesses. Occupational safety and health (OSH) is the anticipation, recognition,
evaluation and control of hazards arising in or from the workplace.
