La coeducación frente al sexismo: un estudio de caso de las mujeres en la isla de Tenerife.

Abstract

El término de coeducación se ha ido construyendo a lo largo de la historia, ajustándose a las nuevas necesidades y demandas de la sociedad. Su objetivo es integrar a las mujeres en los diferentes ámbitos. Sin embargo, este colectivo se sigue enfrentando a numerosas barreras y obstáculos que les impiden alcanzar la plena igualdad. Muchos de estos inconvenientes, son los estereotipos de género y todo tipo de prejuicios que hacen difícil su inclusión en un mundo patriarcal. La presente investigación intenta conocer la realidad de la educación que han tenido las mujeres en su etapa educativa y las consecuencias que han supuesto para ellas asumir esos roles. La muestra está compuesta por tres mujeres de distintas edades y residentes en diferentes zonas de la isla de Tenerife, las cuales se dedican al ámbito educativo y, desde dicho espacio han trabajado la igualdad. Por otro lado, se pretende averiguar si existen diferencias entre la educación que han recibido cada una de ellas y si la coeducación se ha llevado a cabo positivamente. Para analizar dicha muestra, se ha utilizado como instrumento la historia de vida, una técnica que permite recoger hechos, situaciones y experiencias que le han ocurrido a las personas entrevistadas a lo largo del tiempo. Por último, se han contrastado los resultados obtenidos y, a partir de ello, se han expuesto los datos más significativos tratando de dar respuesta a los objetivos planteados en esta investigación. Así mismo, desarrollar una conclusión que permita recoger todo lo que se ha desarrollado anteriormente y lo que se ha logrado a partir de la investigación que se pretende llevar a cabo.

The term coeducation has been constructed throughout history, adjusting to the new needs and demands of society. Its aim is to integrate women in different areas. However, this group continues to face numerous barriers and obstacles that prevent them from achieving full equality. Many of these obstacles are gender stereotypes and all kinds of prejudices that make it difficult for them to be included in a patriarchal world. This research attempts to understand the reality of the education that women have had in their educational stage and the consequences that assuming these roles has meant for them. The sample is composed of three women of different ages and residents in different areas of the island of Tenerife, all of whom work in the field of education and have worked on equality in this area. On the other hand, the goal is to find out whether there are differences between the education that each of them has received and whether co education has been carried out positively. In order to analyze this sample, we have used life history as an instrument, a technique that allows us to collect facts, situations and experiences that have happened to the interviewees over time. Finally, the results obtained have been contrasted and, on this basis, the most significant data have been presented in an attempt to respond to the objectives set out in this research. Likewise, to develop a conclusion that allows to gather all that has been previously developed and what has been achieved from the research to be carried out.
