El Molino y la Cruz. Entre la metapintura y las narraciones transmedia

Abstract

Partiendo del ensayo de Michael Francis Gibson The Mill & the Cross, que sitúa la pasión de Cristo en Flandes en 1564, e inspirado en la tabla de Brueghel Camino del Calvario (1564), del Kunsthistorisches Museum de Viena, el director polaco Lech Majewski crea su película. Con El Molino y la Cruz (The Mill and the Cross, 2011) el cineasta «pinta un gran cuadro dentro de otro cuadro»; un enorme tableaux vivant en movimiento lento y silencioso, porque lento es el proceso creativo, salvo por los diálogos entre el pintor y su marchante, a quien le va explicando su pintura.

Polish director Lech Majewski based his film «The Mill and the Cross» on two different sources: Michael Francis Gibson’s homonymous dissertation and The Procession to Calvary, Brueghel’s oil-on-panel masterpiece. The filmmaker paints a picture within another, a hu- mongous, slow and silent tableaux vivant because slow is the creative process as well. Only the conversation between the painter and the art dealer, in which the first one explains the ways his painting has been made, breaks the quietness.
