Cuidadores formales y estrategias de enfermería para mejorar la satisfacción y la percepción de la salud de la familia, mujer cuidadora y pacientes dependientes que viven en su domicilio: una revisión bibliográfica

Abstract

El paciente dependiente es aquel ser humano que no puede llevar a cabo el cuidado y atención de sí mismo. Es decir, requiere de ayuda para poder realizar las actividades de cada día. Requiere de comprensión, respeto e intimidad por parte de la persona que va a cooperar para que la otra persona se sienta cómoda. Esta imagen está representada muchas veces por la familia, la principal compañía del paciente y, lamentablemente, olvidada en los cuidados. El papel de esta es muy importante, pero a lo largo de los años se ha visto centrado el cuidado solo en el paciente dependiente, siendo secundario la salud y bienestar de la familia. No son tratados como unidad en el ámbito sanitario y ello interfiere en la calidad de la atención que reciben. La relación familia-paciente-enfermo/a es muy importante. Los cuidados impartidos por el sanitario deben ser tanto para el paciente como para la familia, tratándolos como un conjunto inamovible para que los resultados sean óptimos. La enfermera/o debe ser conocedor de la atención que requiere esta unidad familiapaciente y formar situaciones proclives al mantenimiento del bienestar. La sobrecarga y la falta de consideración con la familia como centro del cuidado, donde la mujer despunta como principal cuidadora, se está haciendo cada vez más notable, debilitando la parte humana que ha representado siempre a la enfermería.

A dependent patient is a human being who is unable to take care of himself/herself. In other words, they require help in order to be able to carry out their daily activities. It requires understanding, respect and intimacy on the part of the person who is going to cooperate in order to make the other person feel comfortable. This image is often represented by the family, the patient's main companion and, unfortunately, forgotten in care. The role of the family is very important, but over the years care has been focused only on the dependent patient, with the health and well-being of the family being secondary. They are not treated as a unit in the health care setting and this interferes with the quality of care they receive. The family-patient-patient-patient relationship is very important. The care provided by the health care provider should be for both the patient and the family, treating them as an immovable whole for optimal results. The nurse must be knowledgeable about the care required by this family-patient unit and form situations conducive to the maintenance of wellbeing. The overload and lack of consideration for the family as the centre of care, where the woman stands out as the main caregiver, is becoming more and more noticeable, weakening the human side that has always represented nursing.
