2022Abstract
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), mental health is defined as the
state of well-being of an individual. State in which he is able to face obstacles of daily
life, work effectively and contribute to his community.
The present study was carried out at the Complejo Universitario de Canarias (CHUC) in
Tenerife, Canary Islands. Specifically from November 2021 to December 2021. This
study aims to identify the frequency of patients admitted with a diagnosis of suicide
attempt, due to drug poisoning. As well as the determining factors to find patients in
that situation and what method has been used.
The relevance of this study is given by the high number of young patients with
psychiatric problems and with attempted autolysis who receive the CHUC Emergency
Service. Which makes a protocol essential for this type of cases.
Finally, it is clearly visible that we are facing a great Public Health problem. Whose
increase has increased, and a lot, from COVID-19. It is necessary to use action
measures to reduce the suicide attempt in the young population and therefore the
mortality, of this population sector.
