The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way we live drastically. Eldery people, considered
vulnerable populations, have been the main affected by the restrictions and the new way of living. The
fact that they couldn't leave the residences, the lack of family visits, and the reduction in activities at
the nursing homes could translate into potential health problems such as self-care deficit, impaired
mobility, increased pain and toxic habits, socialization problems, depression and loneliness among
others.
The main objective of this research project is to determine the biopsychosocial impact that
restrictions applied have had to elderly users institutionalized in the Centro de Mayores de Ofra, Santa
Cruz de Tenerife, during the pandemic. To this end, a mixed study is proposed, with a descriptive
quantitative part of a cross-sectional nature and a qualitative descriptive phenomenological part. The
sample will consist of 174 users of the center. In addition, a self-developed tablet will be used as a
measuring instrument and a semi-structured interview will be carried out. The variables of the study
will be treated by descriptive statistics. The study would have an estimated duration of 7 months in
which we expect to confirm the proposed hypothesis.
