dc.description.abstract | The emergency department is one of the main pillars of the health system that requires comprehensive knowledge, good quality and appropriate management. At present, several factors have had an impact on the quality indexes and management capacity in the health system and specifically in the emergency department, among them we can find the SARS-COV-2 pandemic that has increased the pressure on the service, waiting times, lack of diagnostic tests, inadequate use of the service by users, among others. This is not only a problem in terms of material and human resources, but also in terms of the safety and quality of patient care and the physical and psychological condition of both healthcare and non-healthcare personnel who experience this situation on a daily basis. Specifically, this project will focus on the emergency department of the Hospital Universitario de Canarias, where through the NEDOCS scale that measures the saturation in the service, a modified patient satisfaction survey and the modified Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) scale to measure the degree of stress of nurses and some of the main issues addressed in this project, we can observe the impact of these factors in one of the special services such as the Emergency Department. Through the bibliography found and the results of the research developed in this service, improvement measures will be proposed for greater fluidity and less workload in this unit. | en |
