Creación de un nuevo producto turístico en La Laguna: la vida de las mujeres canarias del siglo XIX a través de los ojos de Olivia Stone

Abstract

El turismo actual con el que cuenta la isla de Tenerife aumenta consistentemente cada año. Este está primordialmente centrado en un turismo que no es sostenible en el tiempo como es el turismo de sol y playa. Este turismo supone aglomeraciones y el sobrepaso de la capacidad de carga del destino, el cual está focalizado en el sur de la isla, lo que supone no solo un problema para la población local, sino también para los mismos turistas. Este trabajo se presenta como una propuesta para solucionar este infortunio, mediante la oferta de un nuevo producto turístico en la ciudad de San Cristóbal de La Laguna. Proponemos la implementacion de una ruta urbana con carácter feminista en el casco histórico de la ciudad, exponinendo y visitando algunos edificion emblemáticos. Para la elaboración de la ruta tendremos como referencia la obra de Olivia M. Stone “Tenerife and the six Satellites”, la cual recopila el viaje de la autora a las islas Canarias en 1883. En él se puede ver muy bien referenciadas todas las restricciones y controles que se veían obligadas a enfrentar las mujeres canarias del siglo XIX.

The current tourism on the island of Tenerife is consistently increasing every year. This is primarily focused on tourism that is not sustainable over time, such as sun and beach tourism. This tourism involves agglomerations and the exceeding of the carrying capacity of the destination, which is focused on the south of the island, which is not only a problem for the local population, but also for the tourists themselves. This study is presented as a proposal to solve this problem by offering a new tourist product in the city of San Cristóbal de La Laguna. We propose the implementation of an urban route with a feminist character in the historic center of the city, exposing and visiting some emblematic buildings. For the elaboration of the route we will have as reference the publication of Olivia M. Stone "Tenerife and the six Satellites", which gathers the trip of the author to the Canary Islands in 1883.
