Fonsalía y la amenaza de un proyecto portuario

Abstract

Este trabajo aborda la decisión (o mejor dicho, intento) de llevar a cabo la construcción del puerto en Fonsalía a pesar de que se encuentra dentro de la denominada Zona Especial de Conservación, por su riqueza en lo que a especies marinas se refiere, y pretende poner de manifiesto las posibles ventajas o inconvenientes de dicho proyecto, que se une a otros proyectos que fueron planificados pero que fracasaron, debido a la falta de presupuesto o más preocupante aún, de una falta de previsión total y de concienciación con el entorno. Por lo tanto, para entenderlo mejor, en este trabajo haremos una definición de lo que es una Zona Especial de Conservación, poniendo especial atención a la Zona Especial de Conservación Teno - Rasca. Analizaremos de cerca el diseño y estructura del macropuerto de Fonsalía, pero sobre todo, se analizará el impacto a nivel económico, social y natural que podría provocar la hipotética construcción de este macropuerto, así como el impacto que produciría en el turismo. Para ello también nos sostendremos en un análisis estadístico para entender qué tan importante es la actividad de avistamiento de cetáceos, y cómo afectaría a la misma la puesta en marcha de este proyecto.

The decision (or better said, attempt) to carry out the construction of this port despite of being inside of what is called as Special Area of Conservation, because of the huge variety of marine species, will show all the advantages and obstacles of this project, followed by another planned projects that failed, due to the lack of budget, or even more worrying, with a huge lack of planification and awareness with the environment. Therefore, for a better understanding, in this final degree proyecto we are going to explain what a Special Area of Conservations is, taking into special account the one located in Teno-Rasca. We will make an analysis of the project focused on the port of Fonsalia, paying special attention to the design and structure of it, but especially focusing on the social, economic and natural impact of the hypothetical construction of this port, but also taking into account the impact that it would cause in tourism. Also, we will make an exhaustive statistical analysis to understand how important whale and dolphin sightseeing is, and how this project would affect this activity.
