dc.description.abstract | Anxiety is one of the most common psychological disorders currently affecting a high percentage of the world's population. Individuals with anxiety are generally characterized by presenting a negative emotional state of tension as an anticipatory response to a feared situation in which a series of cognitive, physiological and behavioral symptoms are manifested. The aim of the research is to study how anxiety affects the amount of brain volume estimated in the different regions of the hypothalamus in the young adult population. A sample of 1077 participants was used, 583 of whom were women and 494 men. By means of the "Life Function" test used to assess psychopathology in adults, the participants were divided into two groups, distributed according to their anxiety levels and gender. The results obtained show that there are differences in the amount of volume in the inferior tubular region of the hypothalamus and anxiety groups. In conclusion, the hypothalamus is involved in the regulation of anxiety in the organism. For this reason, further studies are needed to gain more specific knowledge of this brain structure. | en |
