Remolcadores portuarios convencionales y ASD

Abstract

En la actualidad la gran variedad de navíos y artefactos flotantes (petroleros, quimiqueros, ferries, plataformas, pontonas, etc.) que recalan en los puertos de las Islas Canarias han llevado a una gran tecnificación y mejora de las instalaciones y servicios portuarios prestados. Una herramienta fundamental y básica para garantizar la seguridad y rapidez de las maniobras de entrada, salida y atraque de los buques son los remolcadores portuarios. En las Islas Canarias, la principal empresa prestadora de servicios de remolque es Boluda Corporación Marítima. Esta memoria, se aborda desde un enfoque práctico la metodología de trabajo en este tipo de buques, incluyendo la interacción de los remolcadores con los buques a los que prestan el servicio de remolque y procurando aportar unos conocimientos básicos sobre el remolque portuario a futuros oficiales y marinos. También, aprovechando la renovación íntegra en el archipiélago canario de la flota de remolcadores convencionales, los cuales han sido sustituidos en su totalidad por remolcadores acimutales con propulsión a popa o a proa, se realiza un análisis de las principales diferencias entre ambos. Éste análisis se centra en la maniobrabilidad, comportamiento y procedimientos desde un punto de vista lo más práctico posible e intentando reflejar la experiencia adquirida por el autor del documento en el sector durante los últimos años. Para concluir, destacar que la modernización de los remolcadores ha conllevado a la mejora de las condiciones de trabajo a bordo, facilitando las maniobras en cubierta y lo más importante, una mayor agilidad de maniobra del remolcador, permitiendo realizar las maniobras de remolque portuario de manera más eficiente, rápida, segura y sin la necesidad de un número tan elevado de remolcadores.

Nowadays, the great variety of ships, offshore platforms and vessels (tankers, chemical tankers, ferries, drilling vessels, pontoons, etc.) has led to the innovation and improvement of the Canarian port installations and services. One of the most essential services in the islands harbours, is the towing service provided by the port tugs. The company that offers this towage assistance around the Canary Islands is Boluda Maritime Corporation. The thesis is focus in a practical approach of the behavior, maneuverability and procedures defined by the different types of tug boats, particularly conventional and azimuthal tugboats, specifically ASD type. Using all this information to study the relation between tugs and assisted vessels during maneuvers and trying to transfer the practical experience and knowledge acquired in this specific type of vessels to future sailors. The Canarian tugboats fleet has suffered a complete renovation. All the conventional tug boats have been scrapped and updated with vessels using azimuth thruster systems technology astern or amidships. Taking advantage of this conversion of the tug fleet, we will examine the main differences between the two kind of boats and how it has led to the development of the port towing maneuvers and services. Without forgetting the improvement of the working conditions on the tugs decks and the agility and response of the tug during the port operations, allowing faster and more effective maneuvers with less tugboats.
