How we compose a text is not a well-understood process. This paper explores Enkvist’s notion of text composition through the application of multiple discourse strategies. To write a text, we don’t follow a single strategy, but rather intermix a number of strategies as required by the context of writing. This approach to text composition is then applied to automatic text composition, a system for producing on-line descriptions of museum artefacts on the fly.en_EN
