Conflicto, convergencia y reconocimiento

Abstract

Aquí quiero discutir algunas de las tesis expuestas por Charles Taylor en su Politics of Recognition1 para tratar de establecer un punto general en torno a la noción de reconocimiento y su potencial utilidad —o no— para la filosofía política. Lo hago con Taylor porque su postura es relativamente conocida2. Para ello reconstruiré —a mi modo— el escenario en el que Taylor sitúa su discusión; luego me centraré en un aspecto de su estrategia y, por último, discutiré libre y explícitamente la cuestión del reconocimiento en general.

Here I want to discuss some of the thesis presented by Charles Taylor in his Politics of Recognition with the aim of establishing a general point of view about the notion of recognition and its potential usefulness —or not— to the political philosophy. I am going to use Taylor’s proposal because it is relatively known. So that I will reconstruct —in my own way— the context where Taylor’s discussion is developed; then I will focus on an aspect of his strategy and, finally, I will discuss, freely and explicitly, the topic of recognition in general.
