El pájaro que le cantó a la vida

Abstract

través de la ventana de mi habitación, un herrerillo se posó en la rama más endeble de un árbol. Fue entonces cuando surge este proyecto en el que expongo mi parte más vulnerable. En el año 2016 fallece mi madre a causa de un cáncer de mama extendido… la vida tal y como la conocía cambió en cuestión de minutos. Me invadió una sensación fría y sentí un miedo atroz a olvidarla. Por ello he querido crear una obra que me ayude a sanar, a entender el duelo y así ponerle fin. Apoyándome en estas pequeñas criaturas voladoras que habitan en las Islas Canarias, así como la flora que acompaña el paisaje, he querido crear una serie de ilustraciones científicas pintadas con óleo. Trabajando esa fina línea entre la ilustración y la pintura además de conformar sus fondos como si fuesen apuntes naturalistas. Con ayuda de este recurso logro plasmar esos recuerdos y sentimientos que me ayudan a procesar este duelo. Así que con esta pequeña parte de mí, le hago honor y le digo: Hasta que nos volvamos a encontrar.

Through my bedroom window, a blue tit perched on the weakest branch of a tree. It was then that this project was born, in which I expose my most vulnerable side. In 2016 my mother passed away from widespread breast cancer... life as I knew it changed in a matter of minutes. A cold feeling invaded me and I felt an atrocious fear of forgetting her. So I wanted to create a work that would help me heal, understand the grief and bring it to an end. Based on these small flying creatures that inhabit the Canary Islands, as well as the plants that accompany the landscape, I wanted to create a series of scientific illustrations painted in oil. Working that fine line between illustration and painting as well as shaping their backgrounds as if they were naturalistic sketches. With the help of this resource I manage to capture those memories and feelings that help me process this grief. So with this small part of me, I honour her and say: Until we meet again.
